​The birth of a child is a natural phenomenon. However, to ensure that the journey through pregnancy, right up to childbirth, is free of complications, and that both the mother and child are healthy, a convergence of assistance is required. In the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh for instance, a young woman who had a high-risk pregnancy says she owes her present to the relentless efforts of the AWW and the ANM, who were trained by UNICEF, in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Government, and with the support of the IKEA Foundation.
